Law firm Kelvin Chia Yangon has signed a fourth memorandum of understanding with Oxford Business Group (OBG) for the British publishing firm’s forthcoming report on the country. Under the deal, Kelvin Chia will once again team up with OBG to compile and produce the Law Chapter of The Report: Myanmar 2017. According to OBG, The Report: Myanmar 2017 will look at the new and democratically-elected government’s plans for boosting trade and FDI inflows, while reflecting on the country’s achievements since it first began opening up to the outside world some five years ago. Cheah Swee Gim, director at Kelvin Chia Yangon, said that the appointment of a democratic government had undoubtedly heightened investor appetite in Myanmar. “The new regime is dedicating a great deal of time and resources to evaluating the laws that have to be passed and redrafting them so that they align with Myanmar’s social and legal business conditions,” she said.
